Harry could have been all like “I don’t trust him he’s a slytherin.” and dumbeldore, or someone else Remus maybe, could have been like “not all slytherins are evil Harry.” then harry’s being all sarcastic and is all “name one trustworthy slytherin!” and bamm! “Dumbeldore was a slytherin, do you trust him?”  yeah, it would have?? i really don’t agree with the OP but holy shit what you said would’ve been an amazing plotline… this would have helped immensely to eliminate the glaring problem throughout the entire series with the slytherins being categorized as bad/cowardly/etc people by basically everyone that isn’t also a slytherin. it’s a HUGE issue of prejudice within all of the other houses and honestly when you realize all of the shitty things some of the characters have done based on said prejudice they suddenly start to look like huge assholes. i really, really love everything everyone has said here. gosh, now i’m like, almost disappointed that this isn’t an actual thing in harry potter!! it would have been so perfect. Dumbledore reminds me of Gandalf. They’re both my favourite characters. I would also place them both in Slytherin if I had the choice to. There’s just that nagging feeling …
